PRESS: Peskov says Russian economy to start growing in 2024–25

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy will start to expand in 2024 and 2025, although some spheres can remain stagnant due to sanctions, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told news daily Izvestiya in an interview released on Tuesday.

"Now it is already stated with confidence that we will enter the growth trajectory next year and in 2025,” Peskov said.“We might have pits in some industries still, and this headache is due to sanctions, but it will be a growth trajectory in general."

Peskov said that the new presidential incentives announced during his address to the Federation Assembly did not require much budget spending, but they should be seen as a whole with other plans.

He said that the sanctions were so “skillfully amortized that no one noticed anything”.

According to the official, Russia might theoretically sign a deal replacing the U.S. dollar as the key global currency.

"I think theoretically Russia can do it now, but we will not have a chance to succeed. We need time. The dedollarization process continues," he said.
